The judiciary inquiry named Mafia Capitale or Middle-earth, which has launched a lively debate at several levels since 2014, finished his judicial process in October 2019. According to the judges, this was not a mafia-type criminal association. This article aims to contribute to the debate from a linguistic point of view, trying to analyse how the actors involved in the interpretive process have selected and placed on the public scene specific types of narrative. The media played a major role in this case, but often using interpretation frames with important critical issues.
